Moreton Bay Research Station can host up to 100 people in a range of accommodation styles. You can use our multipurpose areas for meetings, socialising and networking, or as display space.
Accommodation comprises dormitory-style bunk-bed rooms suited for educational and other large groups, and separate furnished accommodation for smaller groups.
All bedding (sheets, pillowcases, quilts and pillows) is provided and included in accommodation costs. We supply towels and bath mats for a small charge, and you can use free onsite washing machines and dryers.
We can help you find offsite accommodation for groups of more than 100 visitors.
Choose your accommodation
Research House (sleeps 10)
This self-contained, fully-furnished house is located on the waterfront, directly across the road from the station.
It has four bedrooms and sleeps up to 10 people in two king single beds (which can be pushed together) and four sets of bunks. It has three bathrooms.
It features a fully-equipped kitchen, portable barbecue, lounge and dining area. Additional dining space is available on the covered balcony, which faces the water and provides a good vantage point for watching wildlife and sunsets.
Research Cabin (sleeps 4)
The self-contained Research Cabin is located behind Research House.
It has one bedroom which sleeps four people (in two sets of bunks) and one bathroom.
It is fully furnished and has a well-equipped kitchen.
Research Cottage (sleeps 4)
The self-contained Research Cottage offers coastal views of Moreton Bay.
It has two bedrooms, each with two single beds and an ensuite bathroom.
It is fully furnished and has a well-equipped kitchen.
Bunk rooms (each sleep 8)
We have five bunk rooms, accommodating up to 40 people.
Each room sleeps eight people (in four sets of bunks).
Shower and toilet facilities are shared.
Quad rooms (each sleep 4)
We have 10 quad rooms, accommodating up to 40 people.
Each room sleeps up to four people (in two sets of bunks).
They can be adapted as single, twin or triple rooms.
Each room has a desk and shares an ensuite bathroom and shower facilities with the adjoining room.
Accessible room (sleeps up to 2)
The accessible room has one single bed. Another single bed can be added for a second person if required.
It is accessible by lift.
It has a private ensuite bathroom and a desk.
Meeting room/library

Features:

- the Stradbroke Island Collection, a subsidiary UQ reference library.
Researcher’s kitchen, lounge and balcony

Features:
- generally reserved for researchers and workshop groups
- top-floor position facing the water
- combined kitchen and lounge area
- adjacent screened balcony
- can be used as additional meeting, display or events space.
Office spaces

Features:
- long-term desk space for UQ staff and students
- hot desks for short-term visitors.
